It’s been over thirty years since Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th first hit theaters. Now, on May 13, the Alamo Drafthouse in Houston’s West Oaks Mall will be hosting a special high-definition screening of the original film. From Kevin Bacon necking with an arrow to Betsy Palmer’s gloriously camping performance as Pamela Voorhees, there’s a reason why the original is such a classic.
If you live in the Houston area, this is a screening you won’t want to miss. In addition to the movie, the Alamo Drafthouse will be throwing a summer camp party. Audience members are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite victim from the Friday the 13th series — with a winner walking home with a glorious prize package. In addition, there will be more games, goodies and gore than you can shake a drowned mutated mentally retarded child at.
Best of all, Rotten Cotton will be on hand selling some very special Camp Crystal Lake t-shirts — and maybe giving away a few as prizes. So whether you fondly remember seeing all the original movies on the big screen or you’ve never had the opportunity, this is an event you will not want to miss.
Tickets are on sale here — and you better hurry because this is an event that will sell out quickly.
